Parents,
Welcome to Core Value Sports. Too often, youth sports are taken out context. From the coaches who want to win at all costs, to the parents that put extra pressure on their kids to be the all-star of the team, to the players themselves – who have unhealthy attitudes of winning and losing. The issues are further compounded by society’s idolization of pro athletes who may or may not be good role models. Our children watch TV sports where athletes scream at their coaches, yell at the referees or at each other because they are not getting the ball enough. All this promotes unhealthy attitudes about sports, competition and winning/losing.
The real irony here is that youth sports are important for so many reasons. First and foremost – it still provides an outlet for physical exercise which most children do not get enough of which is evident in the fact that childhood obesity is at an all time high. Secondly, sports teach many valuable life lessons about hard work, respect, positive attitudes, goal setting, commitment, teamwork, competing, constant improvement, adversity, diversity, loyalty, encouragement, etc… - when they are taught right.
At CoreValueSports.Com -organizations, coaches, parents and players will find the educational tools and resources that create a strong ethical foundation that will help keep sports in the proper perspective. We welcome to explore, learn and share.
